This series of modules satisfies the New York State Department of State education requirements to become a licensed NYS Home Inspector. You will be required to complete all five modules to successfully complete this course.

Module 1: Structural • Exterior • Roof

Module 2: Interior • Insulation and ventilation • Electrical

Module 3: Heating • Cooling • Plumbing

Module 4: Overview of the Profession • NYS License Law • Report Writing

Module 5: 40 hours of field based training

NYS Department of State Licensing Information

To become a New Licensed NYS Home Inspector, you must:

have successfully completed high school or its equivalent
have no prior felony convictions
successfully complete a NYS approved, course of study of not less than 140 hours. 40 hours of which must be unpaid field based inspections in the presence of and under the supervision of a Home Inspector licensed by NYS, or a professional engineer or architect, regulated by NYS.
pass the NYS Department of State Home Inspector Licensing Exam, or taken and passed an existing nationally recognized examination, deemed equivalent, prior to December 31, 2005.
pay NYS a non-refundable application fee of $250 for a 2 year license
