Hou$ing and Busine$$ Rehab Grant$
Real Insider Info

Location: Colonie

Overview: Each year billions of dollars are distributed to the general public and municipalities through state, federal, and private funding programs in the form of grants, low interest and no-interest loans. This money can be used to fix up a home or business or revitalize neighborhoods. Unfortunately, many people don’t even know these programs exist or don’t have the resources or tools necessary to locate and apply for them. The U.S. Government has released over $140 million in housing grants this year alone.

Topics: grants versus mortgages • how to apply • how much money can a person or business get • state and federal programs • pros and cons • eligibility and selection process

Instructor: April Ferrante, worked as a project coordinator for the community development department of an engineering firm, where she assisted in the entire grant process from municipalities applying for grants to the disbursements to residents. She is also a certified assisted housing manager through New York Quadel (a former Department of Housing and Urban Development contractor) and has worked with hundreds of people to determine their eligibility for low-income Section 8 & 236 housing, while overseeing a 300-unit subsidized apartment complex.
